Water Softener Repair in Spring Branch, TX

Softener running constantly, salt bridging, or hard water coming back? We diagnose and repair softeners of most makes, or tell you honestly when it is time to replace.

Softener Repair in Spring Branch

Water softeners are simple machines, but the parts that move wear out. The control valve gets stuck mid-cycle and runs water to the drain all night. The brine tank bridges or turns to mush so the resin never gets recharged. The resin bed itself fouls with iron or just ages out after years of hard Hill Country water. The injector clogs, a float sticks, the timer loses its program after a power blip. The result is the same: hard water comes back, scale shows up again, or the salt disappears faster than it should. We repair water softeners across Comal County, most brands included, whether or not we installed them. We find the actual fault instead of guessing, rebuild or replace valves and injectors, clear salt bridges, rebed resin when it is worth it, and reprogram the unit for your water. When a softener is old enough that a repair is only buying a season, we tell you that plainly so you can decide, not get sold.

Water treatment in Spring Branch

Spring Branch is the center of Comal County’s Hill Country, spread along Highway 46 and the upper Guadalupe, a mix of long-held ranches, acreage homes and newer hill-view subdivisions with no city water anywhere in sight. Nearly everything here is on a private well, so the water is what the limestone gives you: hard, and on many properties carrying iron that stains fixtures, a sulfur smell at the hot tap, or sand and sediment that show up after the pump has worked hard. We treat well water throughout Spring Branch, from the ranches off Rebecca Creek Road to the newer homes in River Crossing and Mountain Springs. Every job starts with a test, because two wells on the same road can draw from different depths and give different water, and the treatment train has to be built in the right order for what is actually there: sediment, iron and sulfur removal, softening, and UV disinfection if a bacteria test calls for it. We also take care of what is already in the well house, servicing softeners and filters of most makes, rebedding resin that iron has fouled, and replacing equipment that was never sized for the household. Tell us where the property is and what the water is doing and we will give you an honest answer and a real price.

  • Diagnosis of constant running, no regeneration and returning hard water
  • Control valve rebuilds, injectors, floats and seals replaced
  • Salt bridges cleared and brine tanks cleaned
  • Resin rebedded when the tank is worth keeping
  • Reprogramming for your hardness and household
  • Most makes serviced, whether or not we installed them

Common Water Problems in Spring Branch

The water problems we see most around here, and how we handle them.

Iron fouling softeners that were installed alone

The most common thing we find in a Spring Branch well house is a softener trying to do an iron filter’s job. Iron coats the resin, the softener loses capacity and the stains come back. The fix is an iron filter in front, and often a resin cleaning or rebed behind it.

Sediment after the pump runs

Wells drilled into the fractured limestone here can produce fine sediment, especially when the household pulls hard on the pump. It clogs aerators, wears appliance valves and loads cartridge filters fast. A properly sized sediment stage, or a backwashing filter for a well that keeps producing, protects everything downstream.

New custom homes, first-time well owners

A steady stream of custom homes is going in on raw acreage around Spring Branch, and many owners have never managed a well. We test the new well, design the treatment train for the house and the pump’s flow, and explain what each tank does so the system is understood, not just installed.

Softener Repair in Spring Branch: FAQs

Do you cover Spring Branch and the Highway 46 area?
Yes. We cover Spring Branch and the surrounding Hill Country communities, including Rebecca Creek, Bear Springs, Mountain Springs, River Crossing and the ranches along Highway 46 and up toward Smithson Valley. Tell us where the property is and we will come prepared for the access.
Our Spring Branch well has a softener but we still get orange stains. Why?
Because a softener is not an iron filter. It will catch some iron but fouls its resin doing it, and the staining comes back as the resin loses capacity. We test the raw water, install an iron filter ahead of the softener, and clean or rebed the resin so the softener goes back to doing its own job.
Can you reach a well house on a large Spring Branch lot?
Yes. Big rural acreage is normal out here. Tell us about the access and where the well house and pressure tank are, and we come prepared to test, service or install there.
My softener seems to be running constantly and water is going down the drain. What is wrong?
That is almost always a control valve stuck in a regeneration position, from worn seals, a failed motor or a bad board. Put the unit in bypass to stop wasting water and call us. A valve rebuild usually fixes it on a unit that is otherwise in good shape.
The salt level in my brine tank never goes down. Is the softener broken?
Most often it is a salt bridge: a hard crust forms across the tank and the salt under it is gone, so no brine is being made and the resin is not regenerating. We break up the bridge, clean the tank and check the float and injector. Humid garages and overfilling the tank make bridging more likely.
Hard water is back even though the softener runs. Can it be fixed?
Usually. The common causes are a bypass left open, an injector or brine line that is clogged so the resin never recharges, a lost program after a power outage, or resin that is fouled or exhausted. We test the water on both sides of the unit, find where it is failing and fix that. If the resin is finished we tell you whether rebedding or replacing makes more sense for your unit.
