Well Water Treatment in Garden Ridge, TX

Iron stains, rotten-egg smell, sediment or a failed bacteria test on your well? We test, then build the right treatment for Hill Country well water.

Well Water Treatment in Garden Ridge

Outside the city limits and the water districts, Comal County runs on private wells, and the Hill Country aquifers hand homeowners a familiar set of problems. Iron that leaves orange streaks in toilets and on the driveway where the sprinklers hit. Hydrogen sulfide that smells like rotten eggs at the hot tap. Fine sediment and sand that clog aerators and chew up appliance valves. Hardness, as everywhere here. And sometimes a bacteria result that fails, which is the one you cannot ignore. We treat well water across Canyon Lake, Spring Branch, Fischer, Smithson Valley, Wimberley, Blanco and the rest of the county’s well country. Every job starts with a test, because well water varies from one property to the next even on the same road, and the treatment train has to be built in the right order for what is actually in your water: sediment first, then iron and sulfur removal, then softening, then UV disinfection or drinking-water filtration where it is needed. We size for the well’s flow and the household, install with bypasses so you can service it, and explain what each tank is doing so you are not left guessing.

Well Water Treatment in Garden Ridge, TX

Water treatment in Garden Ridge

Garden Ridge sits at the southern tip of Comal County, an established community of large wooded lots and well-kept homes that is more settled than the fast-growing 281 corridor to its north. Water here is a mix: much of the city is on a municipal or district supply that is treated, safe and very hard, while some of the older, larger properties and the acreage toward Natural Bridge Caverns run on private wells. The homes are older too, which shapes the work. We see softeners that have been in the garage for fifteen or twenty years and are quietly no longer softening, resin beds that are exhausted, control valves that run water to the drain all night, and reverse osmosis units under the sink that have not had a filter change since the house was built. We repair what is worth repairing and tell you honestly when it is not. For homes changing hands in this desirable market, we test the water and check the equipment so a buyer knows what is there, and for well properties we build the treatment train for whatever the test shows: iron, sulfur, sediment, hardness, and UV where it is needed. Tell us where the house is and what the water is doing and we will give you a straight answer and a real price.

  • Well water tested for hardness, iron, pH, TDS and bacteria
  • Iron and sulfur removal with air-injection or media filters
  • Sediment filtration sized to the well pump’s flow
  • Softening placed after pretreatment so resin stays clean
  • UV disinfection where a bacteria test calls for it
  • Treatment explained tank by tank, with bypasses for service

Common Water Problems in Garden Ridge

The water problems we see most around here, and how we handle them.

Softeners at the end of their life

Many Garden Ridge homes have a softener installed when the house was built, and after fifteen or twenty years of hard water the resin is spent and the valve is tired. Scale on the fixtures is the tell. We test both sides of the unit and tell you whether a valve rebuild and rebed makes sense or the unit has earned its retirement.

Neglected RO units under the sink

Reverse osmosis systems need their filters changed and their tanks sanitized, and the one under a Garden Ridge kitchen sink often has not been touched in years. A slow faucet and off taste are the signs. We service the unit, replace the stages and membrane, sanitize the tank and put you on a schedule.

Water as part of a home sale

Garden Ridge homes sell at a premium and buyers want to know what they are getting. We test the water, check the age and condition of the softener and any filtration, and give the buyer or seller a written summary so the water does not become a last-minute negotiation.

Well Water Treatment in Garden Ridge: FAQs

Do you serve Garden Ridge?
Yes. We cover Garden Ridge and the surrounding southern Comal County area, including the established neighborhoods off FM 3009 and the wooded lots toward the Natural Bridge area. Call and tell us where the property is and we will confirm.
Our Garden Ridge softener is twenty years old. Should we repair it or replace it?
It depends on what has failed. A valve rebuild on a unit with good resin is a sensible repair. Exhausted resin plus an obsolete valve plus a cracked brine tank is not worth it. We inspect, test the water on both sides, and give you both numbers so you can decide without pressure.
We are selling our Garden Ridge home. Does the water equipment matter?
Buyers and inspectors look at it. A working, serviced softener and a documented water test are easy proof to hand over. We can service the equipment, test the water and give you a written summary before the house is listed.
Our well water smells like rotten eggs. Is it safe, and can it be fixed?
The smell is hydrogen sulfide gas, which is a nuisance more than a health issue at typical levels, but it is unpleasant and it corrodes plumbing. It is treatable. Depending on the level, we use an air-injection oxidizing filter or a specific media to remove it, placed ahead of any softener. We test first because sulfur and iron often travel together and the fix should handle both.
What causes the orange stains in my toilets and on my driveway?
Dissolved iron in the well water. It is clear coming out of the ground and turns orange when it meets air, so it shows up in toilet bowls, on fixtures and wherever the sprinklers hit concrete. An iron filter ahead of the softener removes it. A softener alone will catch some iron but fouls quickly doing it.
Should I test my well water, and how often?
Yes, at least when you buy the property and after any flooding or work on the well, and many well owners test yearly. A basic test covers hardness, iron, pH and total dissolved solids; a bacteria test is a lab sample and is the one that matters most for safety. We can run both and explain the results.
Do you treat wells in Wimberley and Blanco, or just Comal County?
Both. We cover the well country across Comal County and the neighboring edges in Hays and Blanco counties, including Wimberley, Blanco and Fischer. Tell us where the property is and we will confirm.
